Transportation in Split
Split is Croatia's largest city on the eastern Adriatic coast and a major transport hub of the region. Almost every visitor to the Dalmatian coast includes Split in their itinerary. It has a huge port from where visitors can catch ferries to visit the Dalmatian Islands or go even further. As your ferry sails into or out of the port, you are sure to be mesmerised by the sight of the high mountains of Split standing behind the clear blue waters of the Adriatic Sea.

With its yellow buses and 93 different lines, Promet Split connects different parts of Split with nearby towns and villages. Buses run from around five in the morning until midnight. Possible connections are number 3 to Bačvice beach or the main hospital, number 60 to Omiš, number 37 to Trogir, or number 12 for a romantic ride to the Marjan peninsula.

Jadrolinija
Jadrolinija, meaning Adriatic Lines, is the biggest Adriatic ferry company, and Split is one of the biggest Adriatic ports with a majority of Jadrolinija's ferries and catamarans. From Split port via Jadrolinija, you can get to the Islands of Brač, Hvar, Korčula, Vis, Lastovo, or Šolta. Tickets for these short distance lines can be purchased only at ticket booths located in the Split main port. When travelling by catamaran or car, make sure you come early during the day or even a day in advance to get your spot, especially during the high season.
Jadrolinija has some long distance lines, and Split is one of the stops for these. There is a ferry travelling from Rijeka to Bari that also passes through Stari Grad , Korčula, and Dubrovnik. Another possible way to get to Split from Italy is via a Jadrolinija ferry from Ancona. Contact us, your local WHL agent, to book your seat or cabin. We can also provide you with info and tickets for all Jadrolinija long distance lines!
