Split Weather Forecast & Climate

The Croatian coast has a Mediterranean climate characterised by mild winters and hot dry summers. Split's average summer temperature is around 26 °C (79 °F) while the average winter temperature in Split is around 4 °C (39 °F). Further inland, the climate is continental and characterised by cold winters and hot summers. Croatia receives an annual rainfall of about 900 mm, most of it during winter.

The location of Split is such that it is one of the sunniest Mediterranean destinations and the city enjoys pleasant weather throughout the year. Although Split winters are wetter than many other European destinations, winters in Split are much warmer too. Like all Mediterranean destinations, Split receives most of its rainfall during winter.

During an average year, Split experiences only about a month of very cold weather when the temperature drops to about 4 °C. This is still quite warm in comparison to the winter temperature of other European and Mediterranean cities.
